Sample Lesson Plan Outlines p. 71 – 72 Manual

Review both whole group and small group models. Discuss how these models could be applied within the classroom. Also, discuss what modifications could be made. These models promote permanent word storage. Discuss the movement away from the guided reading model of small groups, since there is virtually no research that supports this configuration. Decodable books should be used until students achieve proficient and automatic word recognition skills.
