Discussion
  • Discuss the information about dyslexia that was shared in this module and in the Dyslexia 101 FAQ document? Was any of this information new to you? What myths about dyslexia still exist in your setting?

  • In Colorado, Response to Intervention (RtI) exists within Colorado’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (COMTSS). Take a few minutes to review the Response to Intervention within Colorado Multi-Tiered System of Supports Table from the COMTSS web page (see document in the resources folder). What information from this table is new to you? How does your school site understand RtI and MTSS?

Activity
  • Positive outcomes for struggling learners is dependent upon the implementation of a well functioning, school-level multi tiered system of supports for all students. Take some time to explore the components outlined in the COMTSS School Fidelity Tool (Find the tool in the Meeting 16 resources folder). You do not have to do a complete evaluation of your site but simply familiarize yourself with the tool and the components. What aspects do you see working in your school and where do you think your site needs improvement? How can this tool help your school team improve support systems for struggling students?
