The training is divided into six sections:

Section 1 (this section) is an overview of the training and the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) development cycle.

  • Activity: Post an introduction in the forum

Section 2 covers Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to make sure we are all at the same place with terminology and reference materials for the 2020 Colorado Academic Standards (2020 CAS), which are based heavily on the NGSS.

Section 3 provides an introduction to scientific phenomena and their role in authentic assessment of the 2020 CAS.

  • Activity: Phenomena Exploration

Section 4 explores scientific contexts and their role in Scientific Phenomena.

  • Activity: Contexts
Section 5 provides instructions on accessing and exploring the CMAS Colorado Practice Resources.  Currently, these resources are based upon the 2009/2010 CAS, but this will give you an idea of how simulations work on the CMAS Assessment.

  • Activity: Colorado Practice Resource Exploration

Section 6 provides an opportunity for feedback on this training site, as this is the first time that this method of training is being used for teacher pre-meeting education.  CDE will continue to utilize this method for training in the future and we want to make it as user-friendly as possible.
